Match Play Championship
Saturday and Sunday, August 16 and 17

Eligibility: This event is only open to Members of the University of Maryland Golf Course

Sign Up: Players sign up the day they qualify.

Format: 18 hole match play. There will be 4 separate divisions, Black, Gold, White, and Red. The division represents the tee played in that division. Play within the Black division will be without handicap (gross). Play within each of the other divisions will be played with full handicap. Players may choose to qualify for any division (you may only qualify for one division). All players must play a qualifying round for the purposes of seeding. Only the 8 lowest qualifying scores will advance to match play. Qualifying may be done during the 18 hole stroke play rounds on August 9 and 10 or on one of the other 3 designated days listed below. Qualifying rounds will be played from the same tee color as the division you are qualifying for. You may play up to 2 qualifying rounds and the lowest score of the 2 will be used. After qualifying is complete, 8 player flights will be formed. Flights will be seeded based on qualifying score. All ties during qualifying will be broke by a match of scorecards and the USGA recommended method (please see below)*. First round matches will take place on the morning of August 16. The four winners in each flight will then play the semifinal match during the afternoon on August 16. The 18 hole final for each division will take place on August 17.
